PAH figures

Figures of 51 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are presented below. They are available as GIF (the visible pictures), encapsulated postscript (the ‘eps’ links) or as XyMTeX source code (the ‘tex’ links). The EPS format is recommended over the GIF format, because it allows resizing and rotating without quality loss.

The figures were first created as postscript files with XyMTeX (see also here), an add-on package for TeX/LaTeX. The postscript files were converted to encapsulated postscript with ps2eps. Finally, the GIFs were made with ps2gif.

Most PAHs have multiple (systematic) names. If you want alternative names, you can go to ChemFinder.com or a similar service and enter the name given here. The only PAH I couldn’t find a name for is the first C28H14 isomer. Inspired by anthanthrene, I named this one tetratetrene.

If you need a PAH that’s not listed here, you can use the source codes to make it yourself. You can also send me an email and I’d be happy to help.
